The unofficial iPhone DevTeam released PwnageTool 2.0.3 yesterday afternoon and within hours pulled it off their website. PwnageTool 2.0.3 was the awaited program that would have offered Mac users the ability to jailbreak their iPhone or iPod Touch running firmware 2.0.2. This latest version, in addition to the support for the newer firmware also offered an updated version of Installer (still in beta) and a new localization for those in Germany.
It looks like Mac users running firmware 2.0.2 will have to wait a little while longer to re-jailbreak or unlock their iPhone, and the DevTeam has not released any time frame of when PwnageTool 2.0.3 will be available again.
If you have already downloaded PwnageTool 2.0.3 and just not used it yet, I would do so at your own risk. The DevTeam stated it was pulled because they “had some issues with iPod touch devices and the latest version of PwnageTool for the Mac.” That makes it seem like using it with an iPhone would be OK, but personally I would not take any chances.
While the version numbers on PwnageTool seem somewhat confusing because they are so similar to the firmware on the iPhone, up till now they have been releasing it one ahead of the version on the iPhone. So PwnageTool 2.0.2 was able to jailbreak iPhone 2.0.1, think of it like they are one step ahead of Apple.
[UPDATE] PwnageTool 2.0.3 has returned back to the available status, you can download it directly here, or just use the Check for update feature in your current version.
