We have recently seen the unofficial iPhone DevTeam introduce the quicker and easier jailbreak method called QuickPwn, but sadly it was initially introduced as a Windows only program. However that sad news has since changed as the DevTeam has just released an updated version, which is 1.0 that now offers Mac support.
While the support from QuickPwn 1.0 is a little limited, its nice because it does offer jailbreak support for the latest Apple firmware, which is 2.0.2. At this time QuickPwn will in fact only work with 2.0.2, but for those who are not looking to unlock their device, this should make the jailbreaking process not only easier, but a lot quicker. QuickPwn offers the ability to jailbreak without having to perform a full iTunes restore, which could potentially save you a few hours.
Its also important to point out, that with this release, the DevTeam is not offering QuickPwn as a replacement for PwnageTool.
“QuickPwn is not a replacement for PwnageTool, they are different tools and provide different features, QuickPwn is for quickly pwning a device, whereas PwnageTool is designed to custom build and tailor the ipsw production process, both tools will be actively developed in the future.”
