A recent study from Analyst Andy Hargreaves is showing that the iPhones “browser share has nearly doubled to 0.31% since the 3G launch.” Not a bad jump, especially considering the iPhone 3G has only been available for just over a month.
However if you compare it with some other stats, it seems quite a bit more impressive. Currently the iPhone browser makes up the largest mobile platform on the Internet. In addition the iPhone is currently ranked fourth for operating system market share, which as you can most likely guess, puts it just behind Windows, Mac and Linux.
Personally as an iPhone user, this news comes with little surprise, after all the iPhone browsing experience is very nice. I have had many “smartphones” with Internet access over the years and used the browser very little, using the access mostly for texting and email, but the iPhone has changed that, the Internet is usable and enjoyable on the iPhone.
