According to the Russian news site Vedomosti , Moscow’s Apple director, Yevgeny Butman, has made claims that the iPhone 3G will go on sale in Russia sometime in 2009.

He [Butman] went on to say that Russian carrier, Megafona, is currently negotiating with Apple to form a deal that will bring the 3G to Russia in the near future.

This piece of news has yet to be confirmed by Apple Inc. or any of its official partners, I expect that we’ll be hearing much more on this topic in the months to come.

iPhoneAlley comments that nearly 470,000 unlocked iPhones are already in use in Russia, and that a Russian iPhone launch would be very interesting.
