http://www.icontrolpad.com/ issued pictures on its web site of a new game controller for the iPhone. iControlPad has made public plans to build a gaming control pad for the iPhone and iPod Touch to sell for under $30. The latest prototype casing is shown here.
It may not look like much now, but the makers say the color and texture will be glossy and smooth in the final production model.
Toucharcade.com notes that another only product in the works and posts images they received anonymously “of what appears to be another gaming pad design that is reportedly scheduled for testing in October. No other details were provided about who might be producing the device.”
Not much to go on!
For either of these conceptual gaming pads, game developers will have to specifically support them in their apps to make use of these upcoming accessories. And Apple will need to license the product since it plugs into the Apple dock. So there are plenty of obstacles ahead, and no one is guessing as to how much of the footwork has been done toward getting these gaming devices through those hurdles.
