Of course, we are still yet to see a software unlocking for the iPhone 3G, but it seems that has not stopped Brando from offering a SIM unlocking tool. I would imagine that your results are going to vary on this one, so consider yourself warned should you decide to make a purchase.
Anyway, the special unlocking SIM for the iPhone 3G promises to allow your “operator/SIM card locked Apple iPhone 3G phones to be unlocked.” Which means that once you install this special SIM, which is made ultra-thin so it will slide under your existing SIM, you should be able to use your iPhone 3G on any network.
Considering me very skeptical of just how well this will actually work, but it is selling for only $20.50, so if nothing else you will not be out a ton of money should it not work. If you are brave and proceed with the order, please check back in and let us know how well it does (or does not) work.

Hi Technerds, I recently bought this sim card from brando and i could not make it work with my iphone3g. I live in switzerland and use a prepaid offer from swisscom. when i put the card in, it says no sim installed! i think its crap! i will wait instead for the software unlock.

I bought this sim card from brando and it doesn’t work on my 3G.
I also bought my iphone in switzerland with swisscom prepaid. After reading the Markus’s post i get the idea that this “Brando’s SIM” doesn’t work with Swisscom.
All my hopes in the Devteam and Zibri!

I purchased a Turbo SIM adapter on eBay which is basically the same as the one referred here. The device works with my T-mobile SIM. However, I found that after connecting my phone to my computer my iTunes doesn’t allow me to update. It gives me an error message saying that the SIM is not supported. It doesn’t allow me to continue or get out of that screen. The seller agreed to refund my money, but I wonder if any of you have had better luck with any other device you recommend?

I just purchased a http://www.any-network.com sim having returned another turbo sim due to lack of confidence. I didn’t want to invest in payg (O2 is not good on reception round here) without knowing it would work on vodafone. Found a guy who had iphone 3g and tried it. Takes a little wiggling to slide it in, fired it up and it worked. I’m off to buy the payg this weekend and put my vodafone sim in it. Try it, if it doesn’t work return for full refund. Even if you don’t buy from these guys you can return items under the distance selling agreement for up to 7 days, but these guys answer the phone.

Brando sim adapter for Sim-LOcked 3G iPhone work fine!!!
I have a 3G Iphone 16GB Black from Swisscom (Switzerland), locked on the Swisscom network!!
With the brando SIM-Adapter, i can use my Sunrise sim card inside the 3G iPhone and it work without problems!
___
Sometimes, each one or two weeks my card begin disabled automatically! When yoou see “No service” or “Réseau indisponible”, you have juste to put your sim card with the brando adapter in a old mobile!!
Wh don’t know really why for the moment! I use a Nokia 5410i (Fuc*** old phone!!) The old phone will reactivate the GSM reception on your Sim card…
Normally after that you have juste to put it back into the 3G iPhone and that’s ok!!
When it doesn’t work the first time, repeat the operation et the network will appear on your iPhone…
____
I had this problem today and had to put it in the nokia and the iphone arround 20 times!!! I Lost 10 minutes but now it works!!!
___
You can find details about that card here : http://forum.frenchiphone.com/index.php/topic,23211.new.html#new
