Virgin Mobile becomes the fourth carrier to offer the iPhone in Australia

Unlike the US and Canada, where we are limited to using our iPhone with either AT&T or Rogers respectively, those in Australia now have four carriers to choose from. Virgin Mobile has become the latest carrier and joins Optus, Vodafone and Telstra.

Of course, Virgin Mobile seems to have already sold out of their initial inventory, with both the 8 and 16GB model being listed as “out of stock.” However, assuming they get some back in, they are offering the iPhone 3G with two options for calling plans. Customers can choose from the $70 AUS or $100 AUS a month plan, each also carries a two year agreement.

Both calling plans include free calls and text messages to other Virgin Mobile phones, free voicemail and a $520 AUS credit towards calls and text messages made to other carriers.

The cheaper $70 a month plan includes 1GB of monthly data transfer and the $100 a month plan includes a much nicer 5GB of monthly data transfer.

Like we mentioned, both the 8 and 16GB models are currently out of stock, however they do allow you to register your details so you can be notified when they are back in stock in the future.
