It did not take long for Apple to be able to make that announcement that they have sold 1 million iPhones, but until now its remained somewhat of a mystery as to where they actually went.
Of course with little surprise I think it was safe to assume that a big portion of those went to the US, who actually made up for 600,000 or 60% of the overall sales. What is interesting to see is that out of the initial 22 countries that launched on July 11, the top 5, were separated from numbers 6-22 by quite a bit.
After the US sales, the top 5 was rounded out by Japan with 70,000, Germany with 69,000, France with 67,000 and Spain with 55,000.
Continuing on the UK came in at number 6 with 29,000, who were followed by Canada with just 16,000. Overall a pretty big drop from spot 5 and 6, but that drop was pretty large going from 5-7.
As far as iPhone sales per carrier, as you would expect AT&T also took top honors for that position, with T-Mobile bringing in 89,000 who were followed by Orange with 77,000.
This information came courtesy of Medialets, who based the results from the recent Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research report.
