Apple, AT&T continue pro-active approach notifying users of software 2.1

Its been just under a week since Apple released the latest software update for the iPhone, bringing users up to version 2.1 and for plenty of people they could not wait to download it and get it installed.

But just as a friendly reminder to those who may not follow the updates as obsessively as we do here, both AT&T and Apple have continued the pro-active approach of reminding users that we saw with the previous 2.0.2 update.

Just recently sent out, both of which seemed to have come within a few hours of each other was an email from Apple and a text message from AT&T. The message from AT&T was short, simple and to the point. “Apple has released new iPhone 2.1 software update as a free download. Connect your iPhone to iTunes and click on Check for Updates.”

I would imagine that most readers here have already taken care of this update, but it is important to remember and possibly even help some of our fellow iPhone owners, and let them know just how easy and important these updates can be. I have one friend who bought his iPhone on the release day, brought it home, added some music and has never even hooked it back up with iTunes. I am sure others have similar people that they come across, maybe even someone else in their workplace.

I’ve never received the texts. I got the email for 2.1, but no text message. Not that it matters since I already upgraded. I just feel neglected is all.

I actually get the texts but no email.

This is actually really refreshing and part of what I hope will be a normal notification process when updates become available.
Apple also seemed to provide more detailed information about the contents of the upgrade instead of the usual mystery surrounding them. I received the text message & email within 24 hours of each other.
