Apparently Apple has distributed the new iPhone firmware 2.2 to several select iPhone developers to test. At this point in time the details are relatively sketchy, we do know for a fact that the firmware is entitled “iPhone OS 2.2 beta 1.”
Beyond that, all I can tell you is that the new firmware is apparently being tested for bugs and other issues.
According to MacRumors, several people are claiming to have received the following message from Apple CEO Steve Jobs,
We’re running a bit late. We want to get it 100% right the first time.
