Apple updates iPod touch lineup; new case design, built-in Nike+ support
September 9, 2008 | Robert Nelson

Apple unveiled their new lineup for the iPod touch today at the Lets Rock event, which now consists of a newly designed device that will be available in 8, 16 and 32GB storage options.
The new iPod touch has been dubbed the “funnest iPod ever.” It keeps the same 3.5-inch display but features a new thinner contoured, polished stainless steel design.
Additionally the iPod touch now has a volume control on the side, a built-in speaker, the App Store built-in and also built-in support for Nike+. With the included Nike+ support this will mean no extra dongle (like the nano had) on the bottom, users will just need the transmitter in their shoe.
Additional features also include a better overall user interface that includes the new iTunes Genius feature which allows users to turn their iPod touch into a “highly intelligent, personal DJ.” Finally they will offer up to 36 hours of music playback and 6 hours of video playback.
The new iPod touch lineup is currently available with a shipping estimate of “1-3 business days” and retailing for $229, $299 and $399 for the 8, 16 and 32GB model respectively.
