Earthscape app; get it while its still free

Earthscape brings a Google Earth like experience to the iPhone. A unique app that allows you to browse the globe with your fingers. You are able to locate where you are based on the iPhone GPS coordinates, which will then allow you to read Wikipedia entries that may be valid to where you are. In addition Earthscape also allows users to take photos, geotag them and upload them to the applications database to share with others. You can also browse others geotagged images from Flickr. If nothing else, its just plain fun to play with, and also to show off to others, especially non-iPhone owners.

But perhaps best of all, for an unspecified “limited time” users will be able to download the app for free, which is a nice discount from the 10 bucks it was retailing for.

Finally, for those of you who are not sure you want to go through the trouble of downloading and installing it, you can check out a video demo (below).

Why is this better than Google Maps? Just so you can tilt the globe? I’m sure it’s interesting, but I doubt it’s really that useful in the long run.
