Apple is signaling a jump into interactive albums from iTunes. The first artist in the cue is Snow Patrol, set to release their latest studio album next month. According to a Polydor production manager, the downloadable, “interactive” application will offer additional content such as artwork, behind-the-scenes images, and lyrics for iPhone and iPod touch owners — “A digital booklet that will take you into the videos and content.” The new album, titled “A Hundred Million Suns” is scheduled for release October 27th.

What is not yet certain is how people will download all of the various files associated with the new interactive album or how it will be put together. Rumor of a new release of iTunes is one possibility, or it may be made available as an iPhone app.
