Information Appliance Associates have just released another syncing option for iPhone users. The new version of PocketMac will be welcomed news for Mac users who prefer not to use iCal and Address Book and offers a few nice perks that go beyond the regular iTunes sync.
First off PocketMac offers a two-way sync with Entourage, Lotus Notes and Meeting Maker data. This syncing option covers both calendar and contacts as well as offering the ability to select either all or just cerrtain categories.
In addition PocketMac also allows you to make complete backups of your call logs and your text messages. You even have the option to export this data and save it as an Excel or CSV file, which can then be stored either locally on your Mac or on your iDisk.
Finally PocketMac also offers the ability to export any 411 information directly into your address book. When using 411 with AT&T you currently have the option to get that information sent by text message, PocketMac can take that text message and export the data into your Address Book with just one click.
While this is not going to replace your iTunes sync, unless of course you are not syncing any media, PocketMac does offer some nice perks and could be a valuable tool either by itself or in addition to the regular iTunes sync. PocketMac for the iPhone is currently available and retails for $29.95. It is Mac only and requires OS X 10.5 for use, it does however work with either the original iPhone as well as the iPhone 3G.
