Apple officially ditches iPhone NDA…for released software only

Apple officially ditches iPhone NDA…for released software only

There is some potential good news for iPhone developers coming from Apple today. In the words of Apple, they have “decided to drop the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for released iPhone software.” Of course this removal of the NDA applies only to software that has been released, which means that future software such as the recently released iPhone 2.2 beta 1 will still have an NDA applied to it.

While this should benefit developers, it does leave some remaining questions unanswered. For example what happens those apps that are submitted for approval and get rejected. Technically those will not be released and according to the statement from Apple the removal applies to “released software” which makes it seem like the NDA will still apply.

Bottom line, it sounds like this is a good move, or at least a good start but some work still needs to be done to truly make it better.
