Mark/Space has just released Fliq, their first iPhone application. The app is being billed as a “social networking application,” but in reality that description is a little generous, but that said it does seem that Fliq does have some real potential in the future.
When you first launch Fliq you are given a list of iPhones that are currently available for sharing. You simply choose which device you want to share with, and then pick the contact or picture that you want to pass off, from there you just “Fliq it.” That information will then be delivered almost instantly.
While that sounds great, there is a one drawback, currently Fliq will allow users to share information only on the same network. That means the information that is being shared requires a Wi-Fi connection because Fliq does not work over Bluetooth, 3G or EDGE. For me, this is not something that I would use very often, not because it is not worthy, but I rarely share a common wireless connection with that many friends. Of course in an office or family setting it could be a nice way to quickly share contact information or pictures.
As for future possibilities, Mark/Space has stated that upcoming versions will allow you to send that same information to your Mac or Windows PC. Hopefully that added functionality will be available shortly, that sounds like a feature that I would use from time to time.
In the meantime you can check out Fliq (iTunes link), its a free download in the App Store.
