Sure, if you are amongst those who have an iPhone 3G you are most likely loving the added functionality of the GPS, but what about those who are left with an original iPhone or an iPod touch. Well until now it seems that you were just out of luck, but Orange Gadgets has changed that with the introduction of the iGPS360 module.
The iGPS360 plugs directly into the bottom of your iPhone or touch and has a USB port that allows for charging or syncing while the GPS module is plugged in. It also features a built-in battery that saves your last acquired GPS satellite information.
So, all this sounds great so far, but a few things to keep in mind. First off this does require you to jailbreak your device. That alone may keep plenty of people away, but aside from that the iGPS360 is a hardware module only and still requires the installation of a GPS application. A few that you can use are xGPS, Hike.app and RoadMap. Orange Gadgets, the maker of the iGPS360 recommends xGPS. Finally, while this sounds great I have to remind you that these are not yet available, meaning we have not seen any feedback on just how well these actually work.
But if you are feeling brave, or have a few extra bucks that you are willing to part with the iGPS360 is currently available for order. The iGPS360 is retailing for $75 plus shipping, and keep in mind that the initial run is limited to just 1000 units. They are expected to begin shipping on October 22.

I just purchased one of these bad boys and am excited to see it in action. I’ve downloaded the xGPS software (add http://cydia.xwaves.net/ as a cydia repository) and it seems to be working great with my Edge connection. It looks like you can select an area to download to your phone for offline usage. It looks pretty sweet!
