Digg founder Kevin Rose returned once again with yet another Apple related “breaking” news story. As usual he was able to get quite a few people excited with his announcement. Rose went live on Qik and stated that the video streaming app would be “coming very soon.”

He went on to claim that he was using the “real deal.” Telling anyone who saw the video that he was not using a “hacked or jailbroken version.”

Of course his story was pretty quickly played down by a message posted over on the official Qik blog.

Qikkers and Qik fans out there – I want to clarify the questions that are being raised about Qik coming to iPhone App Store. We are looking into this, but at present are not sure when and how this will happen.

It seems that despite the recent excitement, Qik will still not be making a debut in the official App Store anytime soon. In the meantime, you can continue to use Qik, assuming you are willing to jailbreak your iPhone. Once jailbroken you can download Qik in either Cydia or Installer 4.
