Scosche intro’s iPhone 3G car charging adapter

Scosche intro’s iPhone 3G car charging adapter

Those looking to charge your iPhone 3G while in the car should be very happy to see the latest adapter coming from Scosche as they have just made the passPORT charging adapter available. The adapter can be found at Apple stores and is retailing for $29.99.

The passPORT adapter is designed to make your older non-iPhone 3G compatible products work with the iPhone 3G. The adapter will allow for compatibility with “accessories that do not support charging to work with the iPhone 3G.”

In addition to the Apple store, the passPORT adapter can also be purchased directly from Scosche.

    @Elliot

    Uhh, I got the message from my iPhone 3g saying that scosche Steering wheel RF remote (IPNRFC) “Isn’t compatible work” and something about airplane mode. I said no and proceeded to use it just fine. I didn’t try the playlist function, but it didn’t work on the ipod Touch. Play pause, volume, and skip works in ANY menu!

    It’s a pity the shape doesn’t make it an elongation of the iphone (same width and thcikness). That way iphone adapter combi would fit in ipod/iphone cradles like Dension icelink.

    I wonder if you can plug this thing onto the end of a cable and then into the back of Apple’s dock, and then mount their dock in the car.

    I purchased one of these at the Apple Store at the Grove in Los Angeles yesterday. It does not work. I tried it with a Belkin car charger and I get the same error that I did without it. I tried it with another car charger/audio unit from Kensington and I got the same error. I am going to return it. It also has kind of a fat form factor so the case on your phone may get in the way more so than the slim connector that most of these chargers have. I took care and did remove the case from my 3Gs just to make sure that was not interfering, but the error was still there.

    It works fine for me. Still gives the “not approved” error, but then it charges and plays fine after that.
