We saw iPhone 2.2 beta 2 begin to make its way into developers hands this past Friday, and despite and updated NDA it seems some new features are still making their way into the public eye. So far it appears that we will be seeing some interesting new features.
First up, and perhaps the most exciting of the initial bunch is the updated version of Google Maps. This new release will bring Street View, which can be accessed by turning your handset into landscape mode. The update will also offer Walking Directions, Location Sharing and public transit directions.
Next up, are some reports that suggest Apple will be adding the ability to directly download podcasts. Sounds like a welcomed addition, of course, this functionality could explain the recent denial of the so-called functionality duplicating Podcaster app.
Last up, at least for now, is perhaps the strangest of the bunch. It seems that Apple has added a system that will prompt you to rate an app upon deleting it. I think user reviews are great, however it seems strange that you would want someone to give it a rating upon deletion. I may be a little skeptical here, but I would think that rating an app when you are deleting it would cause the user reviews to focus more on the bad instead of good, after all you are deleting it, how much did you really like it.
Additionally another item that was noted as being included is support for line-in audio accessories. Hopefully we will see a few more items come before 2.2 is made final.

A Cancel button while a text message is going out and one realizes that the text has a type (often due to autocorrect), please.

The word should have been typo (not type). But this proves my point.

cut/paste. After using Touchtype, I realize that landscape typing is overrated.
Wait, how about reliable 3G connectivity? Maybe I shouldn’t have to disable 3G in order to have a reliable f’n phone.
