Google is preparing to add another app into the App Store — Advanced Voice Search. The app which is expected to become available today (November 14) will allow users to pretend like they are on a real call, and “ask virtually any question.”
Once the question is asked, the users voice is converted to a digital file and sent to Google, who in turn will listen to the question and pass it along to Google search. While that sounds like it will take some time and that users may experience a delay, it was noted as taking “just seconds on a fast wireless network.” The advanced voice search app will even be able to give local results as long as the users location can be found, meaning iPhone 3G users will see more accurate results. Best of all, once available the app will be free.

Google does not “listen” to anything. The app translates the recorded search query, translates that into a digital file and then sends it to the Google search engine.
Aside from the inaccuracies, this writer does a poor job of describing what this app actually does. And no, I don’t work for Google!
