Google Mobile app with voice search is now available

As much as I dread adding a third post about a single app all within just a few days, it is important to point out that the Google Advanced Voice Search app is now available in the App Store — but there may be a slight catch in getting the app downloaded.

Well maybe not a real catch, but something that caught me a little off guard. It turns out that, for those like myself who already had the Google search app installed, then you already have the new Google Advanced Voice Search app. So, if you already had it installed, then simply visit your Applications list in iTunes and click the “Check for Updates” link on the bottom right. Otherwise, if you did not originally have the Google search app installed, then just hit the App Store link below to download the app.

As for how it works — surprisingly well. I have been playing around with the app since last evening, and while voice recognition is far from perfect, it seemed to handle my requests pretty well. In fact the I would say the voice recognition portion performed better than some of the actual search results that I received. Of course, that could be due to the fact that I was asking some bizarre and long questions to test the voice recognition portion.

Bottom line, the Google Mobile app went from simply being an app that was installed on my iPhone to an app that will see some regular use.

I love this app! I also threw some long worded searches at it just to test it and it got maybe 9 out of 10 right on the money!!
