Griffin has recently released iTalk, a free voice recording application for either the iPhone or the iPod touch. The app can be found in the App Store (iTunes Link) and is available for free for a “limited time.”
While there are some other apps that offer voice recording in the App Store, iTalk seems to be a pleasure to use. To begin with it has a simple and clean interface. Aside from the big red record button, the user simply enters a name for the recording and then chooses the quality. The quality options include Good (11.025 kHz), Better (22.05 kHz) or Best (44.10 kHz).
Then once the recording is complete, just end the recording by pressing the big green button. The finished recordings are then saved to the iPhone or touch and are organized with the name, date, time, file size and length of the recording. The recordings can also be easily transferred to a Mac or PC using iTalkSync and your Wi-Fi connection.
No mention of how long the “limited time” will be, so you better download sooner than later just to make sure you can grab it for free.

I know you say you can record with the iPod Touch, but when I researched it I found it does not feature a microphone. What kind of technology do you have to download or purchase to make this work? or is there a secret microphone I’m unaware of.

Purchase the apple replacement headphones with a built in volume control and microphone
You’re off to the races…
