Just when I thought that I had made up my mind on an external battery pack for the iPhone 3G, another comes along that potentially changes my mind. Up till now, I had my mind set on grabbing (and using) the mophie juice pack, however the latest offering from Incase has potentially changed my mind.
The battery pack, which also serves as a protective cover is dubbed the Incase Power Slider and is made with the iPhone 3G in mind. The Power Slider sleeve is made from a “durable, lightweight hardshell construction with soft-touch coating” and also includes a built-in lithium-ion battery that is said to double the battery life.
The Power Slider is promising up to 330 hours on standby, 5 hours of 3G talktime, 10 hours of 2G talktime, 26 hours of audio playback, 7 hours of video playback as well as 5 hours of 3G Internet surfing and 6 hours of Wi-Fi surfing.
Additionally, the Power Slider has a miniUSB pass through which allows you to sync or charge your device without removing the protective sleeve and a set of five LED lights on the back that show the current battery status.
The Incase Power Slider for the iPhone 3G will be available beginning November 28 and is expected to retail for $99. It seems like this may be a nice alternative to other external battery packs, the only real question that I have is (considering this is designed to stay on) how much extra weight and bulk it will add to the iPhone 3G.

I have an Incase slider on my iPhone 2G and love it. It’s the least bulky case I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot!) I also love the ability to dock easily.
