You’re probably well aware that both the iPhone and the iPod Touch both utilize the revolutionary multi-touch technology. Rumor has it that Apple is attempting to port this technology from the iPhone/iTouch to their line of Mighty Mice.
It goes without saying that if Apple were to find a way to utilize this already revolutionary technology in their mice, they would be able to seize a massive market share of (as silly as this sounds) the mouse market.
Now, I chose to mention this Mac peripheral news on an iPhone blog, as it goes to show how technology that has debuted on one platform (revolutionizing it,) can have just the same effect with a completely different medium.
According to MacBlogz,
“As the design indicates, an updated aluminum Mighty Mouse could boast sleeker dimensions that are better contoured to the hand. A lower profile body would make touch usability more versatile for complex gestures while still retaining enough height to fit the necessary batteries to power it. Outfitted with a glass front end surface to capture finger movements, this could be the end all be all Mighty Mouse of the future.”
The trackpads on all of Apple’s current aluminum MacBook’s/MacBook Pro’s already sport the multi-touch technology, allowing users to flip, pinch, scroll, and resize images all with two fingers.
Apple has already filed several patents that leads me to believe a multi-touch Mighty Mouse isn’t as far-fetched as it sounds.
