Perhaps one of the more jocular applications in the iTunes App Store, iFart has recently hit #1 on iTunes’ Top 100 app sales (link ).

For those of you unfamiliar with the app, iFart Mobile provides those who own it with a wide range of delightful fart sounds that can be played  upon command.

The developer, Joel Comm, was "gracious" enough to post his application’s stats on his website .

12/14 – 841 units – #76 overall
12/15 – 1510 units – #39 overall
12/16 – 1797 units – #22 overall
12/17 – 2836 units – #15 overall
12/18 – 3086 units – #10 overall
12/19 – 3117 units – #9 overall
12/20 – 5497 units, – #4 overall
12/21 – 9760 units
12/22 – 13274 units, #1 overall

Comm also provided some personal insight as to why his application leaped in popularity so quickly.

"So why the massive leap on 12/20? I can only suppose that either there is an exponential jump once you hit the top five, or the release of Sim City has been a rising tide that lifts all boats. SInce it rocketed directly to the #1 spot, there are many eyeballs looking at the top ten."

iFart Mobile is one of those great success stories that can be associated with the iTunes App Store and the iPhone. Any average joe with a basic understanding of programming and the iPhone SDK can make $13,000 in one weekend, that is, if he/she gets lucky!
