Installer app gets an update, now at version 4.0b11

RiP Dev has recently released an update for the Installer app, which brings the latest up to version 4.0b11. The update includes several bug fixes and some new features. Those new features include a welcomed “Update All” button, but perhaps more important are the bug fixes which include a reduced memory footprint and more. Personally, any added stability is a welcomed addition as I now use Installer as little as possible due to having several instances where I have had to restore my iPhone due to the Installer app crashing. Continue on to read the full change list…

  • Updated category is now only show when something is actually updated.
  • Update All button for the Updated category.
  • ChangeOwner(path, owner[, group]) script command is now recursive.
  • ChangeModeRecursive(path, mode) script command added.
  • Each category now lists a number of packages in it.
  • Dramatically reduced memory footprint.
  • Package information is now properly scrollable.
  • More info button in the package information page is now much (much!) easier to hit.
  • Better handling of repositories with a large amount of packages.
  • Fixed a few Lua commands that were a little broken in the introductory release.

Im still lery of installer myself, Last time I used it I too had to completely restore my jailbroken iPhone losing all the great music I had dl’d via cydias Dtunes! not to mention starting from scratch again after months of getting my iphone just how I liked it! I used to like installer app way back when (1.1.4 fw) but I just dont trust it? I leave the Icon hidden in boss prefs “Poof” just so I dont even hit it by mistake!!
