A recently released app is bringing on-demand television to your iPhone or iPod touch. The app is appropriately dubbed Television and can be found in the App Store for $2.99 US or 2.39 EUR. As for features, Television is aggregating content, which includes (at time of posting) “50 shows from 30 channels.” It is currently offering content from channels such as CNN, NBC, CBS, MTV, Comedy Central, VH1 and more. Also, in addition to content from the US, Television also has content from the UK, Australia, France and Germany.
The one downfall with Television, which is similar to the Joost app — it requires a Wi-Fi connection in order to work. Basically, this seems like a pretty useful app, however it does comes with a pretty big disclaimer. The “fine print” states that the information “resides on sites not owned or controlled by Makayama Media B.V.” and that “channels may be withdrawn without prior notice.” So, given that, I would not get all that attached to any content that I may find on Television. Personally I am still hoping to see Hulu become available.
