With little fanfare, Rogers has begun offering a new data and text messaging value pack for iPhone 3G users. The new plan is priced at $30 per month and includes 500MB of data along with 10,000 outgoing text messages. It also includes the standard visual voicemail, caller ID and WhoCalled which sends a text message for any missed calls.
Of course, this new plan is not limited to just those with an iPhone, it is also available with any of the other smartphones that Rogers offers. While 500MB is a far cry from the unlimited plans that many hope for, it is also a more realistic option, and for those who do not use as much data, it could be a good way to save a few bucks each month.

$30 for 500 MB is no way to “save a few bucks,” considering the previous package had 6 GB for $30.

Well, considering the fact that I was paying 30 dollars a month for the 6GB of data, and an additional 15 for the visual voice mail/caller i.d. / 10 000 texts, meanwhile only using between 50-80 MB of data a month, I’m now saving 15 dollars a month with this new package and I still have plenty of data usage available to me beyond my typical day to day use.
So that being said, this new package coupled with the 10 dollar voice plan I took advantage of while they were running it, is a much better value to me.

Well, I was just wondering that if I put this package on, my bill will be like $61/month. That includes my $25 calling plan, plus the Value Pack. Is that too much $$/month??

Haha, I’d be happy paying 61 bucks a month. As it stands, I’m paying nearly a hundred bucks a month…
$40 student plan
$10 intl & US texting
$30 iPhone Data Value pack
plus the GARBAGE access fee and then taxes
Some phone bill for a student eh? :/
Not exactly thrilled with the price of the whole thing, but pretty happy with everything else I guess.
