yeah, the patch is v 1.0.1.4 but it works!

i successfully made a skypeout call using the AT&T 3G network. I could notice a lag in the conversation but i guess that was there because of poor signal strength.

You’d rename the new patched file on your desktop, on your computer. You don’t do it from your FTP program. Also, unzip on your computer using Winzip or Windows/Mac’s built-in unzipping utility. You’d need an FTP client, such as Cyberduck on Mac (I didn’t need to set permissions using this program either), and that’s how you copy the new Fring.app onto the iPhone after SSHing (which is FTPing) into it.

A few of the commands you’ll need off the top of my head are:

Connect to iPhone
ssh 192.168.1.X

Go to applications folder
cd /root/var/mobile/applications

Rename Fring patch
mv ./Fring.api ./Fring.zip

Set permissions
chmod -R Fring.app

Can’t think of the unzip or “copy to iPhone” commands right now, someone fill in the gaps.

Ricci, SSH is a method of accessing the files on your iPhone, like browsing a hard drive. You do this via WiFi and an FTP client. Your phone has to be jailbroken for this to work, and you have to install a couple of things via Cydia. There are numerous videos on Youtube detailed the process, have a look and good luck!
