Online video creation platform Animoto is taking the iPhone plunge this week, unveiling a free iPhone application which lets users create music videos on their Apple mobiles. The new Animoto application is available now.

The Animoto app lets iPhone owners take photos stored on their phones and transform them into self-proclaimed professional style music videos. Users can select up to sixteen photos on their iPhone, pick a song from Animoto’s music collection and then send it along. The service takes care of the rest, creating a music video which can be remixed if desired and shared with others.

Animoto says the heart of its technology lies in A.I. which acts like a director and editor in putting together the final video. Videos are produced in widescreen format to utilize the full iPhone screen and can be passed around through email.
