Lim Ding Wen has written and just released an application for the iPhone called Doodle Kids. The app, which was originally written for the Apple IIGS was ported over to the iPhone and allows the user to draw “random shapes in random colors with random sizes to create a beautiful effect.”
As for using the app, it is pretty simple, you can create your masterpiece and then shake the iPhone if you want to clear it and begin again, or use the existing Home and Power Button combination to capture and save your artwork.
I must say, this is quite refreshing, especially considering the fact that this nine year old wrote an application and had it accepted into the App Store and it had nothing to do with being childish. Well, the app is designed for kids and is childish in that sense, just not in the iFart sense.
Perhaps, the most interesting part of this story is that Lim Ding Wen is able to program in a handful of other languages and already has another app called Invader Wars on the way. It was also noted that this app has been downloaded more than 4,000 times, and it was just released on February 1st.
