Despite hearing that Apple and China Mobile were in the “final stages” of talks and having it come off like a resolution was coming, it seems that the latest in this saga is claiming that the talks have now stalled once again. Interfax has reported that this most recent issue has come in relation to the App Store and the fact that Apple needs to retain complete control over sales.
According to Wang Jiazhou;
“China Mobile should operate the application store itself in order to maintain its advantage,”
Wang also went on to state that;
“iPhone users in other parts of the world pay for applications by credit card, a model which would not be successful in China, where users prefer to pay through deposits in their mobile phone accounts.”
Honestly, I am not sure why China Mobile would want to take on such an operation as running the App Store, of course it would make sense that this would give them complete control over what kind of apps would be available. As for the paying for apps by depositing money into their mobile accounts as opposed to using a credit card, it seems like that could be worked out with some behind the scenes work.
Either way, it seems that China will not be getting an iPhone 3G anytime soon.

Why not just send them a letter insulting their mother? Seems more efficient
