InternetSafety announce the “kid-friendly” Safe Eyes Mobile browser for the iPhone

Thanks to the relaxing on the part of Apple, we are beginning to see a few apps make their way into the App Store that could potentially offer some competition to the default apps. The latest comes in the form of a web browser, one that is designed to prevent access to content such as pornography, nudity, sex as well as items that can be deemed as tasteless or gross.

The Safe Eyes Mobile browser is currently available for download (App Store link) and sells for $19.99.

Based on the price tag, and the fact that I can choose my own content, I have not tested this out at all. However, according to the developer, it does work just like the built-in browser. The Safe Eyes Mobile browser still offers the “pinch and tap zoom, bookmarks, built-in Google search and multiple pages.” It was also added that it has “no noticeable effect on iPhone performance.”

As for the rest of the controls, parents can filter sites in 31 categories, turn off the built-in Safari browser and even lock the iPhone so other browsers cannot be installed. While the price does seem a little steep, I guess it would be better than having your young child accidentally see something they should not see.
