A new Twitter application has entered the App Store, and this one seems to be worthy of a download. The app is called GeoTweeter and comes courtesy of Schmap, who you may already know from schmap.me. The app is being referred to as “the iPhone app that puts the ‘where’ in your tweets” and catchy slogan aside it seems to do just that by combining the fun social aspect of Twitter along with your current location.
A suggested use, and one that actually makes sense come from the ability of sharing your location. Take for example, a random tweetup of local users, now everyone that wants to attend will know exactly where the location is. See, the first person arrives and sends a tweet using GeoTweeter, the application then sends, as part of the message, a link to a schmap.me map. Fellow Twitter friends can then simply click the link and know where to go.
One thing to keep in mind though, this app is not designed to replace your existing Twitter application because it does not work with incoming tweets, it just sends the outgoing ones. So that means you will use this to share your location when you want and not every time. It also means that you can continue to enjoy your current iPhone Twitter app.
For those looking to give GeoTweeter a try, it is currently available in the App Store, and best of all, it can be downloaded for free.

Thank you for the useful thoughts. Yet yet another good thread, it’s exactly why my partner and I returned to the website time and again…
