The most interesting news is sometimes what surfaces in the night. Case in point: Amazon.com, which recently unveiled its Kindle 2 ebook reader, is slated on Wednesday to formally announce an iPhone application which will let you do several key features the Kindle 2 does, including purchasing and reading ebooks, magazines and newspapers.
The New York Times reports this Amazon iPhone application will also let one access previously purchased ebook content. On top of this, the Associated Press says, users will be able to view color books in color. You’ll need to access the Amazon store through the iPhone’s Web browsing abilities however, as the Kindle store is a separate entity.
The application is, in fact, up on the iTunes store now. It is a free download. Stated features include the previously mentioned purchasing of Kindle books, reading the first chapter of a book for free, adjusting text sizes and the ability to share bookmarks of where you are in a book between devices and platforms.
