With the recent switch from GrandCentral to Google Voice I have begun to truly use the service, with that I had began looking for an iPhone app to make it even more useful. In the past, back when Google Voice was still GrandCentral there was an app called Grand Dialer, however that has since been discontinued by the developer.
Thankfully, with a few Google searches I was able to find another option that will hopefully be approved soon. The new app is called GV Mobile (Google Voice Mobile) and seems to be pretty full-featured, even more so than the old Grand Dialer app.
According to the developer, GV Mobile
“will allow you to dial via Google Voice (like the old GrandDialer), retrieve your call log (received, missed, made), retrieve your voicemail (an issue with the old GrandCentral), access to iPhone address book, and update account settings (phones to dial when someone calls and other misc. settings).”
Additionally, GV Mobile will also have SMS support, voicemail transcripts and GV contacts support.
As for pricing, GV Mobile will be available in two flavors – paid and free. The paid version will include all of the above mentioned features, while the free version will allow you to just dial GoogleVoice numbers.
Currently, the paid version is the one that has been submitted for approval, however it was noted that he hopes to have the free version submitted before the end of the week. So far no mention was made of how much the paid version will be selling for.
