We now have another available option for those looking to live stream video from their iPhone. I remember hearing about a native Ustream app being developed for the iPhone back in December of 2008, and it looks like that app is now available. Of course, that availability comes with a little bit of good news and bad news.
The good news is that the app is more than a viewer, it allows the user to stream video and interact with their viewers. I was able to download and install the app without any issue. Upon launching, you enter your Ustream username and password and can then begin streaming. I have not given this any extensive testing, but can say that I was able to login and begin streaming easily. It also seems to be a decent quality (at least over Wi-Fi).
As for the bad news, as you would expect, the app is available only for those willing to jailbreak. Hopefully Apple will find it in their hearts to begin allowing these types of apps in the App Store in the future.
The app is called UstreamBroadcaster and can be found within Cydia.
