A recent survey that is being given to customers leaving Verizon leads one to believe they are a little upset about not offering the iPhone. It is important to point out, this should not cause anyone to think that Verizon will be getting the iPhone anytime soon, or at all for that matter. What is does suggest is that Verizon is aware and seem to be reacting to the situation. Of course, perhaps they should have reacted a long time ago.
Anyway, the survey includes three questions that name the iPhone specifically. Questions ranging from “What could Verizon Wireless have offered you to keep you as a customer?” to “What is the PRIMARY REASON you chose your new carrier?” and “What is the PRIMARY REASON you disconnected your line of service with Verizon Wireless?”
The answers included the obvious answers ranging from looking for lower prices to moving, divorce, poor network quality, but also include both “The iPhone” and “Wanted the iPhone.”
Again, I cannot help but feel its nice to see them acknowledge the iPhone, but it seems like it has come a little late. They must be feeling some pressure, even the somewhat obvious competitor — the BlackBerry Storm has not helped all that much.
Personally, I tend to swap carriers based on who has the phone I want. Which means that I have paid more than my fair share of early termination fees. I left T-Mobile for AT&T when the original iPhone was released, of course I ended up getting a second line with T-Mobile again when the G1 was released. I guess that means that had I been with Verizon at the time, I would have left them for the iPhone.
