An eBay auction is currently offering the chance to own a little piece of Apple iPhone history in the form of two early prototype model iPhones. Of the two, only one is noted as being working, but that aside, the model that works is described as running a beta OS and aside from the horrible looks, that sounds like fun for an Apple geek.
The listing describes the phones as being “quite rare and collectible” with neither unit actually being called an iPhone. The model that is not working may be worthwhile as a collection of spare parts just in case the other stops working. As for the features of the working model, it is said to be able to send and receive calls, receive (but not send) SMS messages, take pictures and browse the web. It was also mentioned that the working model has “tons of testing options” which may be fun to pay with for a while. Otherwise, in addition to the two (one working) prototype phones the winning bidder will also get two soft cases.
Of course, owning a rare item such as this will not be cheap, the bidding is currently at $2,000 with a little over a day before the auction is scheduled to end.
