Apple Stores averaging 22 iPhone 3G sales per day

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster recently completed another study to estimate the amount of sales that Apple Stores are experiencing on the iPhone, iPod and Macs. The study was completed by a six member team at a variety of Apple Retail stores which included seven flagship locations as well as eighteen averaged-sized stores. The survey took place over 25 total hours and was completed on various days of the week and at random times.

Bottom line, it looks like Apple is selling (on average) 22 iPhone 3G’s, 50 iPods and 28 Macs per day at each US based retail store. Previous Piper Jaffray studies have not included iPod sales, however it looks like both Mac and iPhone sales are lower than they were this past November. Mac sales were averaging 28 per day and most recently show an average of 20 per day while the iPhone was previously at 28 per day and have been lowered to an average of 22 per day.

Of course, in terms of the iPhone 3G, it would appear that some of the decline could be attributed to the speculation of a new iPhone being released. Additionally, some of the iPhone decline could also be due to the fact that you are able to purchase an iPhone is many other locations now such as Wal-Mart and Best Buy.

I’ve purchased 4 iPhones in the last 6 months. Now the whole household is Apple iPhone only. Take that, Crackberry!
