Over the past few weeks, Microsoft has been carrying out what some are calling an “anti-Apple” campaign. This so-called “campaign” involves a series of ads attacking Apple’s notebook prices,  claiming that the notebooks are too expensive for the everyday consumer.

To top it all off, Microsoft is rumored to soon be launching a touch controlled MP3 player, a device that would directly compete with Apple’s iPod Touch.

Engadget recently posted images on their website of what they believe to be Microsoft’s  Zune HD.

“We present what might possibly be your first look at, yes… the Zune HD. In the gallery below, you can see images from what appears to be a forthcoming marketing campaign for Microsoft’s new PMP. We don’t have any word on specs right now, though we’ve got a sneaking suspicion this will have an HD display.”

It is unclear at this point in time whether or not the Zune HD will be able to utilize downloadable applications and play games like the iPod Touch, or whether it will simply play music and video files.
