Amazon Kindle for the iPhone gets a slightly colorful update

In performing my daily “Check for Updates” in iTunes, I was pleasantly surprised to find an update available for the Kindle. Which I must confess is an app that I am using more and more everyday, sometimes more so than the actual Kindle that I have sitting on my desk.

Anyway, the update which brings the version to 1.1 added something that I have been hoping to see for a while now — an option to choose from different background and text colors. Users can choose to keep the original black text and white background or opt for the little easier on the eye color schemes of either a white text with a black background or a grey text with a sephia background.

Additionally, the Kindle app now has support for reading in landscape mode as well as the ability to turn pages by tapping either side of the screen. As it has been, the Kindle app for the iPhone remains a free download.
