Nothing like a nice lighthearted story that shows you just how far the iPhone has been mixed into daily life. They say there is an app for everything, and this just goes to add a little further evidence to make that a true statement.

An artist by the name of Jorge Colombo will have his work on the June 1 cover for The New Yorker, and aside from the fact that having your artwork featured on that publication is amazing, there is more to the story.

In this case, Jorge Colombo used only the Brushes iPhone app to create his work. He drew a scene that included a hot dog cart along with some patrons in Times Square. Perhaps a little more interesting is that the virtual painting was done in the hour that he was standing outside Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. Yes, the hour, as in just one.

While I am certain I would not be able to create something nearly as nice, this is almost enough to make me want to purchase Brushes from the App Store. This looks like a fun app, and if nothing else it could serve to entertain my daughter when we are stuck somewhere with nothing to do.
