We now have another option to keep your iPhone 3G charged while on the go. This time it is a combo external battery/protective case. The product is the iPhone 3G Fuel and it is made by case-mate.
The battery pack has a 2300mA battery, which according to case-mate, means that users can expect to get up to an extra 2.5 times the amount of power. In other words, you can get up to an additional 9 hours of talk time, 7 hours of Internet use, 8 hours of video playback, 24 hours of audio playback and 250 hours of standby time.
Some features that are included with the iPhone 3G Fuel is an on/off switch, a 180-degree rotating belt clip as well as the ability to charge and sync your iPhone while it is still in the case. It also has a 3 color LED status indicator that shows green for fully charged, red when you are charging and yellow for when the battery has less than 40-percent of power left.
The iPhone 3G Fuel is currently available and will set you back $79.99. Additionally, “for a limited time” case-mate will toss in a $5 Starbucks gift card with your purchase.

Very nice review and the price is considerably less than the Mophie unit. I like that 180 degree swivel on the back. It’s just too bad that it isn’t removable.

Battery packs and inductive charging were the hot iPhone items at CES this year. I didn’t find case-mate’s design to be innovative in any way. I would look around at the other folks who has been around the market for a year or two longer. The guy at the booth explained to me that they decided to make this case because the battery maker approached them about it. I suspect they didn’t do their homework with respect to the best technology available for this kind of application.

I actually bought this iPhone Case and they work marvelously. I am glad to see a positive review about the. My husband and I's phones where always dying – probably because we use the internet constantly- but since I bought us this I haven't had to worry about losing a charge. I agree with David too that the price was very reasonable and less than the Mophie unit.
