This latest bit almost seems like a stretch, but for those like myself who are clinging to hope that a SlingPlayer app will be available for the iPhone, it almost seems like a bit of positive news.

Anyway, it looks like Sling Media (as a developer) has been listed in the App Store. Given that, and given that they have only submitted for approval on one app, we have to believe that it is in regards to the SlingPlayer Mobile app. That would suggest that the app is in the system and working towards an approval.

Of course, the bottom line is this could just be a glimmer of hope that is not going to amount to much, but hey, we can dream. In the meantime I am not going to run out and upgrade my Sling just yet.

One thought is that they are holding off for a 3.0 release. Another item to point out is that while their is quite a bit of speculation regarding Sling, there is already another app that has been available for a long time that streams live TV — it’s called OrbLive. Granted this one is a little different, it streams live TV from a PC, assuming you have a compatible TV tuner card. I guess if Sling is denied, then we will see OrbLive removed also.
