AT&T claiming to be “happy” with current unlimited data plan pricing

Despite hearing comments from AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega last month in regards to a cheaper iPhone plan, it seems that may not be happening after all. Last month, it was stated that they were considering a cheaper plan, but the latest news suggests that AT&T is “happy” with their current offering.

According to a recent WSJ story, AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel told the Dow Jones Newswires that they have “been very happy with our pricing.” Further commenting that current unlimited plan would be available for the launch of the iPhone 3G S.

Bottom line, it does not look like we are going to be seeing any cheaper data plan options for the iPhone anytime soon. That said, a lower priced and limited plan does sound like it would work well with the newly discounted iPhone 3G. After all, I would think that more people would be willing to pick up a cheap low-priced iPhone if they would not have to spend as much per month to be able to use it.
