Whether you agreed or disagreed with the iPhone 3G S upgrade pricing from AT&T, you cannot deny the fact that it was a hot topic. In fact that topic received so much attention that AT&T has had a change of heart and decided to loosen up their eligibility policy. In other words some users who were close to being eligible will now be able to upgrade without any further delay.
Anyway, according to the AT&T announcement, those who were eligible in either July, August or September will be able to purchase the iPhone 3G S as of tomorrow at the best upgrade pricing. In other words, you can expect to pay $199 or $299 for the 16GB or 32GB iPhone 3G S respectively.
Overall, it was nice to see AT&T have a change of heart, and their reasoning is really logical. It seems they realized that plenty of these customers, the ones that they are referring to as early adopters are loyal (albeit to Apple and the iPhone) and willing to sign up for another two-year commitment.
Finally, don’t worry if you head over to the AT&T website and do not see the recently announced pricing, according to AT&T, that will begin showing online as of tomorrow. Additionally, you can head directly to an AT&T store or place an order on the AT&T website as of Thursday June 18 and receive the full discount.
And with that, AT&T has made quite a few people (myself included) very happy. I have resumed my plans to get an iPhone 3G S, of course due to the slightly short notice on the pricing I may not be able to make it to a store tomorrow.

And by that time or shortly after there will be a new iphone. Rogers continues to disappoint. No stores in my area will let me know how many phones they will be stocking let alone even confirm they will have the iphone. Plus, they can’t tell anyone how much the phone will be to buy outright in Canada. Booo Rogers.

We have to pay for the handset as well in the UK, why should it be any different?
