In addition to placing your order with Apple, the iPhone 3G S is now available for pre-order with AT&T. The pricing here remains the same as what AT&T customers will see on the Apple website, in fact the only real difference here seems to be that you are paying and picking your phone up directly with AT&T.
Customers that go ahead with the pre-order will be able to pick their new iPhone up at an AT&T retail location on the morning of June 19. According to AT&T their stores will be opening early (at 7am) that morning.
I guess if nothing else, this pre-order online setup is going to keep people from feeling like they need to camp out in order to get a new iPhone on launch day. But personally, I like the pre-launch excitement and think that I may miss it a little bit. As much as I hate to sit on a sidewalk all night, I was kind of looking forward to geeking out with other Apple fans.
Finally, if you prefer, you can also visit an AT&T retail location and place your pre-order in person.

Actually, the phones will be FedEx’ed to your home with a June 19 arrival date. This was indicated on my order receipt and I also confirmed it with an AT&T Wireless Service Rep.
