AT&T offers an official response to MMS and tethering

Following up on yesterdays post about having to wait for AT&T to roll-out MMS messaging and Internet tethering we have a little more of an official statement coming from Executive Director of AT&T Corporate Communications, Joe Chandler.

Regarding MMS:

We absolutely will offer MMS on iPhone 3G S in late summer once we complete some system upgrades that will ensure our customers have the best experience with MMS. These upgrades are unrelated to our 3G network. When MMS is ready, we will let customers know.

Regarding offering a tethering plan:

We plan to offer one but we don’t have an announcement to make at this time.

Bottom line, it seems to be what it is, and there is not much we can really do at this point. Honestly I hate to roll-over and just take it from AT&T, but at the same time I still love my iPhone 3G and have nothing else that I can do except wait for the features that I am wanting to show up.
